EEPCo FC names Yordan Stoikov of Bulgaria as Head Coach
Addis Ababa – EEPCo, the second oldest soccer team in Ethiopia, announced at a press conference here that it has hired Yordan Ivanov Stoikov of Bulgaria as the club’s head coach on a two-year contract.ÂÂ
The 59-year-old Stoikov, who played for Lokomotiv Sofia and the national youth and senior teams, had coaching spells in Bulgaria, Libya and Zanzibar.ÂÂ
Stoikov thus becomes the third foreign coach in the country after Ethiopian Premier League champions St. George hired Giuseppe Dossena of Italy and Dedebit FC, the runner-up and surprising team of the 2009/10 season, brought Mehmet Tayfun of Turkey.ÂÂ
The Bulgarian coach is said to receive a $5,000/month salary, which will be covered by Salini Construction, the giant Italian construction firm currently working on the multi-billion dollars Gilgil Gibe dam projects.ÂÂ
EEPCo FC said that Stoikov was selected after it received and reviewed CVs from other coaches in Brazil, Turkey, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.
