Ethiopia Premier League: Woldia kicks off new Season with a bang

Woldia SC kicked off the 2017/18 Ethiopian Premier league new season with a 2-0 victory over the visiting Adama City FC.

Following a scoreless first-half, Woldia was awarded a penalty kick after Fitsum GebreMariam was brought down in the box. Andualem Negussie (Abega) converted the penalty to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Woldia scored its second goal three minutes into injury time (93’) courtesy of Edom, who came on as a substitute ten minutes before regulation time. .

There were two other EPL matches today featuring two newly promoted sides. Jimma Abba Jifar defeated the visiting side Hawassa Ketema 2-0 while Mekelle Ketema forced home-side Arba Minch Ketema to a scoreless tie.
