Addis Ababa City Cup to kick off on Saturday
Addis Ababa – The Addis Ababa City Cup will kick off this Saturday with EEPCo taking on Harar Brewery and Ethiopian Coffee facing Ethiopian Banks.ÂÂ
The tournament will continue on Sunday, where defending champions St. George will clash with Defence and Ethiopian Premier League Runner-up Dedebit FC will have an easier task with lower-division team Weha Serawoch (Dept. of Water Works).ÂÂ
St. George defeated Ethiopian Insurance 2-0 to clinch last year’s trophy, and ace striker Salhadin Said was crowned Top Scorer of the tournament with 4 goals. Ethiopian Coffee finished third with a 2-0 win over Harar Brewery.ÂÂ
Although the tournament is reserved for Addis Ababa-based clubs, Harar Brewery is once again invited to take part in this year’s tournament.ÂÂ
Eight teams drawn in two groups will compete for the 30,000 Birr first place prize money.Group 1: Ethiopia Coffee, EEPCO, Ethiopian Banks and Harar Beer.  Group 2: Saint George, Dedebit FC, Defence and Weha Serowoch  Schedule Saturday October 2nd
