Atsede Habtamu of Ethiopia wins Eindhoven Marathon, sets new course record

Eindhoven, The Netherlands – The 2009 Real Berlin Marathon champion Atsede Habtamu Besuye of Ethiopia, has won the Eindhoven Marathon here on Sunday in a new course record time of 2:25.35. The previous mark of 2:29:45 was held by Dutchwoman Nadja Wijenberg since 1999. 

The men’s event was won by Charles Kamathi of Kenya  (2:07:38). 

Atsede, who will be celebrating her 23^rd birthday on the 26^th of this month, won by nearly five minutes ahead of fellow compatriot Tsega Gelaw, but failed to lower her 2009 Berlin Marathon finishing time of 2:24.27 as her pacesetter left the course after 25 kilometers.
