St. George defeats Ethiopian Banks on penalty kicks to win City Cup

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Defending champions St. George FC won the 5^th edition of the Addis Ababa City Cup by defeating Ethiopian Banks 4-2 on penalty kicks here today. 

The two teams finished scoreless in regulation time. 

The surprising lower division side Weha Serawoch (Water Works) finished third by beating Ethiopian Coffee 5-4  also on penalty kicks, after the two sides were leveled (1-1) in regulation time. 

The 5^th edition of the City Cup proved to be a good experience for Weha Serawoch. The team started with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Dedebit FC, followed by a gallant 0-0 tie with EPL champions St. George and a 3-0 victory over Defence Force in Group B. And it took a penalty shootout for Ethiopian Banks to beat them 6-5 after the sides finished 1-1 in regulation time.
