Addis Ababa , Ethiopia – St. George clinched a 3-2 win on Saturday over Dedebit to win the Ethiopian Super cup, the traditional season curtain- raiser for the Premier League.

Goals from Suleiman Mohamed, Yonatan Berhane put St. George in control after Getaneh Kebede equalize. While Getaneh Kebede pulled one back for Dedebit, there was still time for Adane Girma to seal victory for St. George. Adane Girma looks infectiously exciting and St. George older talents are still a force – but Dedebit aren’t fizzing quite yet.

This match sometimes has the air of a pre-season friendly but an early crunching tackle by Isaac on Yared Zenabu, set the tone for a competitive affair.

A brilliant outside penalty area goal from Suleiman Mohammed on 30th minute to put St. George ahead and new boy who come from the academy, Yonatan Berhane fired on 43 minutes, the ball croses from the midfield and he put into the net by passes two players. After Suleman’s goal Dedebit’s forward Getaneh Kebede equalized his team.

Dedebit’s Capitan Mulugeta Mehret  should have scored after a great pass from Temesgen Tekle but St. Georges goal keeper  managed it. A couple of half-chances fell Dedebit’s way but St. George cleared their lines and Adane lofted a brilliant third goal in the second on 48 minutes on to seal the victory.

Getaneh Kebede pulled a goal back for Dedebit with just seven minutes left on the clock to set up a frantic finish, after Adane sealed the win for St. George with a goal in the beginning of half time.
