Ethiopian Premier League: Hawassa City earns first point of season

Yirgalem, Ethiopia – Hawassa City earned its first point of the 2010/11 t Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) season after it drew 2-2 with Mugher Cement here today.

Prior to today’s match, the team languished at the bottom of the league table after it lost 4-2 to Dedebit FC and 1-0 to Dire Dawa City. While today’s draw with Mugher Cement might seem an improvement, the team nevertheless dropped points at home.

Hawassa City has won the Ethiopian Premier League twice (2004 & 2007) and finished in the top 5 on a number of occasions.  It is the only non- Addis Ababa team to have won the league title. However, the team’s performance this year has left many of their fans baffled.
