Second auto crash involving Ethiopian football teams

Addis Ababa – A bus carrying members of the Ethiopian Air Force football team crashed earlier this morning, as the team was returning home after playing against Haromaya University in the National League Championship, according to a report by EthiopiaFirst.com.

This was the second auto crash involving Ethiopian football teams. Just last week, Ethiopian Premier League Adama City FC lost defender Dereje Hailu and team leader Mohammed Elemo, after their team was involved in a major accident in Adigrat, in which several players sustained major and minor injuries.

According to EthiopiaFirst.com’s sources within the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF), the Air Force players are being transferred to a hospital in the town of Asebe Teferri. Although the source of the accident is still under investigation, auto malfunction is a prime suspect.

Meanwhile, Semeredin, one of Adama City’s players who was severely injured, will be flown to a hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. St. George Sport Club is covering all his medical expenses, including his airfare ticket.
