Mugher & Hawassa kick off new EPL season with victories
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Defending champions Ethiopian Coffee were held to a 2-2 draw by the visiting Harar Brewery as the 2011/12 Ethiopia Premier League season kicked off here today.
Mugher Cement collected three points with a 2-1 victory in Dire Dawa, while Hawassa City scored narrow win (1-0) at home against the newly promoted Ethiopian Air Force team.
The league will continue here tomorrow with two EEPCO vs Sidama Coffee and CBE taking on Adama City.
The matches featuring St. George vs Defence Force and Dedebit FC vs Arba Minch City, another newly promoted team, were postponed as they had a number of players selected for the Ethiopian Walia national team, which is currently in Dar es Salaam for the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
After one game, Mugher Cement and Hawassa City are in the lead with 3 points and +1 goal.
