EEPCO’s Philip Dawzi leads top scorer’s chart
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – EEPCO’s one man strike force Philip Dawzi spear heads Ethiopian Premier League’s new season top scorers chart with six goals, followed by Medhane Tadesse of Ethiopian Coffee with one goal behind, according to a report by the weekly English newspaper Capital Ethiopia.
With nine goals in seven matches, the Nigerian striker helped the former twice premier league champions to survive from relegation at the season’s final match last season. And he comes again in the new season scoring important goals almost every weekend to steer the side to top of the league table. Six weeks in to the league season 26-years-old Philip is riding high to become the first foreign player to win the annual top scorers award already with six goals in his bag.
Philip’s personal effort is the key to Electric’s success this season. Although many criticize the Nigerian for taking much time to be in the clear from off-side traps, they believe he is delivering what is expected of him. “If he could manage to return to his own half in time and make himself available to the next trough pass, he could achieve his dream of making history as the first foreign striker taking home the honor†Mengistu Lemma told Capital Sport.
Philip Dawzi leading the top scorers chart with six goals, Ethiopian Coffee Medhane Tadesse comes second with five goals including last Sunday’s breath taking goal from afar against Defense Force on the sides 4-2 victory.
