Adane Girma’s goal saves the day for St. George against Dedebit
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Top striker Adane Girma saved the day for St. George when he scored the winning goal as his team defeated Dedebit 2-1 in Week 8 of the Ethiopian Premier League match played here today.
The victory elevated St. George to 3rd place, while Dedebit dropped a notch to 4th. Although both teams have now 10 points each, the Saints have one match in hand.
The match facing St. George vs Ethiopian Air Force was abandoned last week in Bishoftu due to crowd trouble.
Dedebit opened the score 25 minutes into the first half through Addis Hintsa, the former Banks SC player. St. George got their equalizer seventeen minutes later thanks to a goal by Abebaw Butako.
The first half of the match ended with the score ties at 1-1.
Following the interval, St. George got the winner through their top striker Adane Girma 15 minutes prior to the end of the game.
The league will continue with 5 matches taking place tomorrow and one game on Monday.
