Ethiopia earns $290 million from Mineral Export
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopia earned 290 million US dollars from mineral exports in the first half of this budget year, according to the Ministry of Mines.
Ministry Public Relations and Communication Directorate Director, Bacha Faji, told WIC the revenue was gained from the export of gold, tantalum, jewelry and marble.
He said the revenue was generated from 5,484 kg of gold, 145 tonnes of tantalum, over 7,338 kg of jewelry and 532 cubic meter of marble.
The revenue has shown a significant increase from that of same period the previous year due to the increasing number of investors entering into the sector, he said.
Ethiopia earned over $500 million from mineral exports last budget year.
