St. George on top of Ethiopia Premier League
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – St. George FC has overtaken Ethiopia Premier League leader EEPCO following a 2-0 victory over bottom of the league side Defence Force here yesterday.
St. George now seats at the top of the league with 27 points, followed by EEPCO (25 points) and Dedebit FC (23 pts).
Dedebit defeated Hawassa City 1-0 today, while St. George will play its match with Ethiopian Air Force, which was abandoned due to crowd violence, this Saturday in Dire Dawa.
Shimeles Bekele and Adane Girma (penalty) scored the goals.
It was the 9th goal of the season for Adane, who is now tied for second place with Medhane Tadesse as the league’s top scorers. Getaneh Kebede of Dedebit is the leader with 10 goals.
Adane and Getaneh finished as the country’s top strikers with 20 goals each last year.
