Swimming: Olympic debutant Yanet Seyoum Gebremedhin finished last in Heat 3
London, UK – First-time Olympian Yanet Seyoum Gebremedhin of Ethiopia failed to qualify for the semi-final of the 2012 London Olympics Swimming competition after she finished last (8th) in Heat 3.
Yanet’s finishing time of 32:41 was 2:40 slower than the heat winner Karin Clashing O’Reilly of Antigua and Barbuda.
There were 10 Heat competitions. The best finishing time was set by Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands, who won Heat 10 in 24:51, while the worst was recorded by Nafissatou Adamou Moussa of the Niger in Heat 1.
The 18-year-old Yanet, who was born in Kombolcha, Wollo, is an engineering student at Addis Abeba Science and Technology University in the nation’s capital. She is 5’5 tall and weighs 123 pounds.
