SETE 2012 Conference and Exhibition announces media partners

(Press Release) – Next month’s Sports and Events Tourism Exchange (SETE) exhibition (12-14 September) and conference (12-13 September) has announced its media partners, all of which add great value to an event that is expected to shape and advance South Africa’s development as a sports tourism destination. SETE 2012 is brought to you by the KwaZulu Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Tourism KZN and SASCOC (South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee).

SportsPro Media have been confirmed as SETE 2012’s international print partner, whilst Business Day Sport will perform this role locally. The SABC have come aboard as the event’s local broadcasting partner, whilst social media giants iSportconnect have committed themselves to the event as international social media partners. SportsPro Media’s Yéwandé Aruléba, Business Operations Manager, said that “SportsPro are once again pleased to be an International Media Partner of Sports and Events Tourism Exchange 2012”.

Sugen Pillay, Director for Business Development at TEPG and SETE Conference Director, said that “we are really pleased about our media partnerships, which will ensure coverage of SETE on all media platforms – international and local print and online platforms. We are particularly excited about our partnership with SABC as a broadcast partner, their presence at the event means that South Africans will get to know more about what SETE hopes to achieve through the SABC’s various platforms”.

The SETE 2012 conference, exhibition and opening gala dinner (12 September) will take place at the ICC Durban, with SETE seeking to establish South Africa as one of the world’s top sports and events destinations by facilitating relationships between South Africa’s tourism, sport and event industries. The exhibition will feature over 100 exhibitors, whilst the country’s solid reputation as a viable location for events has also attracted the interest of more than 50 international hosted buyers. The conference programme will include presentations and panel discussions anchored by high profile international and local keynote speakers who are all specialists within their respective fields, with the conference looking to create a platform that enables key stakeholders the opportunity to engage and exchange ideas that will ultimately enhance South Africa’s sport, tourism, and event industries. A feature of the conference that is sure to garner much interest will be the National Sports Tourism Steering committee’s presentation of its 17 year strategy which will outline the key sports events which SASCOC, as well as its federations and partners, will be bidding for between 2013 and 2030, as well as the key domestic events that need government support should it wish to bolster the local sports and tourism industries. The SETE conference is sponsored by CATHSSETA (Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality, Sports Sector Education and TrainingAuthority).

A night of glitz and glamour is guaranteed at the SETE Gala Dinner, hosted by KwaZulu Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Tourism KZN, EThekwini Municipality and Durban Tourism. As well as kicking off the SETE exhibition and conference, the dinner has also been chosen by SASCOC (South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee) to celebrate the hugely successful South African Olympic Team. Multiple-SAMA winner Lira set to entertain a star-studded crowd that will include Durban-born Olympic gold and silver medalist Chad le Clos, and members of the public will be able to join sponsors, dignitaries, and their Olympic heroes in expressing their gratitude to our Olympic athletes who flew the South African flag high at the London Olympics.
