Construction of 50 hospitals underway in Southern Ethiopia

Dilla, Ethiopia – The construction of 50 hospitals is underway in South Ethiopia People State at a cost of more than one billion Birr, the state health bureau said.

Speaking at a review meeting held in Dilla town Bureau head Kare Chawicha the facilities would help enhance access of health in the state.

The construction of most of the hospitals would be completed and would serve five million people, he said. He said some 46 health centers constructed in 2004 EC have already begun service. According to the report, the health extension package is being implemented across the state. The meeting has deliberated on maternal and child health, HIV and AIDS and health extension packages, he said.

The three-day meeting attracted professionals from federal to woreda levels, partner organizations and representatives of women, youth and higher learning institutions.
