SNNP earns over 153 million birr from tourism

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (WIC) – Culture and Tourism Bureau of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s (SNNP) Regional State said over 153 million birr was earned from tourism last Ethiopian budget year.

Bureau Head, Zerihun Zewdie, told WIC recently the revenue was obtained from 726, 931 domestic and foreign tourists who visited various attractions sites in the state.

The number of tourists who visited the state last budget year has shown a significant increase compared to the previous year as a result of promotions made using various techniques.

Investors could benefit a lot if they engage in tourism sector as the country has untapped resources, according to Zerihun.

The SNNP Regional State marked this year’s World Tourism Day from September 17-22 under the theme’ under the theme ‘Tourism & Sustainable Energy.’
