Paradise Lodge expands capacity to 158 Rooms

Omotic General Trading PLC owner of Paradise will also construct a new lodge in Hamer Wereda.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Paradise Lodge, in Arba Minch, finalised an expansion it has been undertaking for two and half years, which enable it to have to 158 rooms.

The expansion, the third since it was established in 2006, has also given the lodge a new large restaurant and swimming pool as well as a meeting hall.

Paradise Logde, owned by Omotic General Trading Plc, lies on 56,000sqm of land, leased from the Arba Minch Town Administration, in the Southern Regional State.

The expansion was called for because of the increasing tourist flow to the area, Eyasu Wessen, major shareholder and manager of the Lodge told Fortune.

Tourist numbers have been increasing significantly over the last three years, at the national level. The first six months of 2012/13 saw an increase of 111pc, in tourist revenue, to hit 252 million dollars, compared to the same period the previous year, according to data from the Ministry of Culture & Tourism (MoCT). The number of tourists has also grown by 44pc, to 321,000, during the same period, whilst the average length of stay also increased from four to six days.
