Kilimanjaro MarathonWINNERS of the Kilimanjaro Marathon 2013 will be rewarded with hefty prizes, organisers have announced.

George Kavishe, the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Brand Manager said “Kilimanjaro Premium Lager will once again recognise athletes by rewarding them considerably with good prize monies and other incentives.”

He said the prize monies for first to third placed winners men/women in the 42.195km Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon will be to the tune of 20m/- with the first placed winner men/women taking home 3m/- each, 1.5m/- for second placed as well as 850,000/- for the third placed winners – an exciting incentive to attract top world class runners, encourage record breakers and better finishing times.

He added “Kilimanjaro Premium Lager’s priority is to promote and encourage Tanzanian athletes. For that reason they have introduced a separate 6m/- prize purse for Tanzanian athletes who will finish first on both men and women categories of the 42km race with each one getting 3m/-.

“The amount will be given to Tanzanian athletes as a bonus and it will be on top of what winners will get for their respective positions. We believe that this will motivate Tanzanian athletes to enhance their performance and finish with good times,” he said.
