Ethiopia obtains $1.7 billion from export trade over 7 months
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (WIC) – Ethiopia secured $1.7 billion from export trade over the past 7 months, Ministry of Trade has announced. The revenue exceeds that of same period last year by 7.2 percent.
According to Amakele Yimam Public relations head with the Ministry of Trade, gold and coffee account for the lion’s share of the revenue. Chat, oilseeds, grains, cattle and flower have also contributed significantly to the revenue.
The foreign currency obtained from export of leather and leather products, textile and garment, fruits and vegetables, as well as spices also facilitates the realization of the Growth and Transformation Plan.
According to ENA, the Ministry envisages collecting a total of $5 billion from export trade in the current Ethiopian budget year.
