Tunisia looking to attract more golf tourists
Tourism operators in Tunisia are looking to promote the country as a top destination for golfers.
With its warm climate, Tunisia has the potential to be the perfect winter destination for UK golfers keen to escape freezing temperatures back home, but according to Jack McCullars, who runs Golf Tunisia, the main obstacle for this up-and-coming sector is a lack of public awareness.
‘The tourist needs to do massive publicity outside Tunisia,’ he told the BBC. ‘The average golfer in the UK doesn’t know that Tunisia has golf courses. They know it has beaches, they know about summer holidays, but they don’t know about golf courses.’
Between January and March, Tunisia enjoys average highs in the mid-teens, while temperatures climb to over 30 degrees during the summer months.
Other top sporting attractions in Tunisia besides golf include scuba diving on the country’s Mediterranean coast and camel riding in the Sahara.
