Ethiopian athletes victorious at Carlsbad 5,000
Carlsbad, California – Dejen Gebremeskel and Gelete Burka of Ethiopia won the men and women’s 5,000m races respectively here today.
For Gebremeskel, today’s victory means that he has won the Carlsbad 5,000m for the third year in a row.  However, his time of 13 minutes, 21 seconds, was the slowest winning time since 2008.
Women’s Race
In the women’s category, race newcomer Gelete Burka of Ethiopia outsprint two Kenyan athletes to clinch first place in a time of 15:26. Meanwhile, fellow compatriot and last year’s runner-up, Werknesh Kidane finished fourrth.
