A 1-2 finish for Ethiopian Athletes in Bix 7 women’s race
Sule Utura has big plans for the $12,500 she won Saturday as the women’s champion at the 39th annual Quad-City Times Bix 7.
The 23-year-old Ethiopian planned to put whatever money she won toward the purchase of a new laptop computer.
She can afford several after touring the seven-mile course through the streets of Davenport in 36 minutes, 34 seconds, taking advantage of near-perfect weather conditions to sprint past fellow Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba in the final mile to claim the Bix 7 title and a five-second victory.
