Etoile Sportve du Sahel defeats St. George 2-1

Tunisia – Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS) of Tunisia defeated Saint George of Ethiopia 2-1 here today in Group A match of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup.

The two teams were leveled at one goal a piece in the first half.  It was St. George who scored first through an own goal by Med Ali Nafkha (17′), but  Issam Jebali responded for Etoile 10 minutes later (27′) .

Etoile dominated the first half and missed several goal scoring chances.

The second half didn’t produce much excitement until the 71st minute when Etoile received a gift from St. George defender Isaac Isinde, who instead of clearing the ball, tried to dribble and stumbled. The Algerian Baghdad Bounedjah said thank you and scored the winning goal.

Although Etoile dominated the match and deserved to win, St. George could have returned home with a valuable point had it not be for the error.

Hopefully, Isaac has learned his lesson today and would move on.
