2014 World Cup: Ethiopia 1 Nigeria 2
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ethiopia national football team was defeated 2-1 by the Nigeria Super Eagles in the first leg match of the 2014 World Cup qualifier here today.
The Walyas dominated the first half of the match commanding a 61% ball possession but failed to take full advantage of it. There was one bright moment in the half where Ethiopia could have gone one up unfortunately Salhadin Said’s effort was cleared off the goal line by a Nigerian defender.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Ethiopia opened the score thanks a goal scored by midfielder Behailu Assefa (56’), but the Super Eagles responded with two goals of their own from forward Emmanuel Emenike 67’ & 90’).
