Nation’s Top Marathon Runner Meb Keflezighi Named Kiwanis Kingston Classic, presented by HITS Endurance Race Ambassador

SAUGERTIES, NY (February 6, 2014)  HITS Endurance, the event management company behind HITS Triathlon Series and HITS Running Festivals, announced today that Olympic silver medalist, New York City Marathon Champion and acclaimed author, Meb Keflezighi, has partnered with the organization as the Race Ambassador for the upcoming Kiwanis Kingston Classic, presented by HITS Endurance April 27, 2014 in Kingston, New York. Meb’s attendance at the New York event will be one of his first public appearances after the 2014 Boston Marathon.

It’s an honor to include Meb in the Kiwanis Kingston Classic, presented by HITS Endurance race weekend and we are thrilled to offer our athletes the chance to meet one of the world’s most exceptional runners at the Pasta Party and on race day,” said HITS President and CEO Tom Struzzieri. Meb is an outstanding example of what dedication, hard work and good sportsmanship can achieve; and one that every athlete, parent and coach can learn from.

Having participated in three Olympic Games and won 22 USATF Championships, with four NCAA Champion titles under his belt, Meb secured his place in history in November 2009, during the 40th running of the New York City Marathon by becoming the first American since 1982 to win the largest marathon in the world. His family’s journey from immigrants to the United States, to a family consisting of 10 college graduates, paired with his numerous professional achievements, is often described as the illustration of the American dream.

The 32nd annual Kiwanis Kingston Classic expanded this year, with the assistance of HITS Endurance, to feature the namesake 10K, while introducing four new events to race day and encompassing HITS distance for everyone! mantra. The Hudson Valley road race now includes a Friends & Family Mile, 5K, Half Marathon and a 2015 Boston qualifying Marathon, with courses showcasing the region’s most popular historical sites and scenic views. All athletes registered for the Kiwanis Kingston Classic, presented by HITS Endurance will have preferred access to Meb, who will be available for running advice, nutrition tips, book signings and photo opportunities.
