It is the last Thursday of the month and we are airing “Taboo no more”, our mental health segment. Dr. Jeff Hoffman (Clinical Psychologist and CEO of DANYA International) will be moderating and the guest will be Dr. Welansa Asrat, a psychiatrist of Ethiopian heritage.
Dr. Welansa Asrat is a licensed physician and psychiatrist, who is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. Dr. Asrat’s specializes in mood disorders, including bipolar disorder, depression, cyclothymic and dysthymic disorders. Her treatment plan is based on an in-depth understanding of the client’s unique background, cultural orientation and social context. Dr. Walensa received her M.D. from SUNY Stony Brook after a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Virginia. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at St. Vincent’s Medical Center/NY Medical College and subsequently did her residency in Psychiatry at Westchester Medical Center/NY Medical College.
