Counting on Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - BDO International, the fifth largest accountancy network in the world, joined the Ethiopian financial scene partnering with Next Consult PLC.

This makes BDO the fourth international accounting firm to enter Ethiopia right after Ernst & Young, Deloitte Consulting and Grant Thornton.

Formed in 1963, BDO offers audit and accounting, tax and advisory services in 144 countries round the world, according to the company’s website.

BDO’s Ethiopian partner, Next Consult, started work in 2005. As per the company’s PR office, they have registered an annual 15% growth rate since their formation. It had formerly worked with BDO east Africa and served BDO clients when they came to Ethiopia. According to BDO’s website, the collective income of the firms in the network for 2013 is USD 6.45 billion.
