Wudasse and Molla win 2014 Coca-Cola Series Race-1
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Shito Wudasse and Getaneh Molla become winners of 1st race of the 2014 Coca-Cola Road Series.
In the men’s race Getaneh Molla won the race in a time of 21:16 ahead of second place finisher Zewdu Mekonnen (21:18) and third place finisher Gemechu Edeo (21:21). Edeo who is the 2013 Coca-Cola Series overall winner couldn’t respond to Molla’s final kick.
In the women’s race Shito Wudassie take victory in time of 24:29 finishing ahead of Mihret Tefera (24:31) and Alemitu Awi (24:32) who were second and third respectively.
A total of 3,000 participants finished the race today.  Registration for this year’s was race closed ten days before race day. The demand to enter the race has been increasing each year both for fun runners and elite athletes. Although the elite athletes’ number is increased from 300 to 500 this year the demand to take part has been overwhelming. The new corporate challenge which is introduced this year to encourage participation through organizations has seen over forty organizations.
Olympian athlete Million Wolde, Artist Sileshi Demese (Gashe Abera Molla) and the new East Africa Bottling Sharing Company Chief Operating Officier Xavier Selega started the race and handed out prizes to the winners.
