Egypt’s Ahly complete signing of Ethiopia striker Saladin Said
Ahly sign Ethiopian striker Saladin Said on a free transfer as his contract with Wadi Degla expires in the summer.
Ahly have completed the signing of Ethiopian striker Saladin Said on a free transfer, the Cairo giants announced on Saturday.
The 25-year-old lanky frontman joins the Red Devils on a five-year deal as his contract with Wadi Degla expires in the summer, the club said in a brief statement on their official website.
“Said has successfully passed the medical before penning a five-year contract,” Ahly added.
Ahly are seeking to bolster their attacking options, given the chronic injuries of forgotten striker Emad Meteb and the failure of Ahmed Raouf to impress since joining the club last January from ENPPI.
Said is likely to partner the promising Amr Gamal, who proved to be Ahly’s most reliable frontman this season.
Said has scored 12 goals in 20 appearances with Ethiopia since making his international debut in 2005.
He started his career at Saint George in Ethiopia before moving to Wadi Degla in 2011. He also had a loan spell with Belgian side Lierse last year.
