President Mulatu Applauds Rotary Int’l for its Support to Fight Polio
Addis Ababa , Ethiopia – President Mulatu Teshome praised Rotary International Club for the support it provided to Ethiopia to fight polio.
While holding talks with 35 members of the Rotary International Club from US and Canada here today, the president said the support of Rotary International was valuable in the country’s effort to fight polio.
Although the disease is currently detected near the borders of Somalia and Sudan, Ethiopia has been working hard to eradicate polio, he stated.
The president called on the delegation members to continue their support to uphold the motto “End Polio Now” and continue their support to the elimination of the disease.
The Rotarian team leader Ezra Teshome on his part thanked the Government of Ethiopia for the effort it made to fight polio.
Rotary International Club will continue its support until the disease is totally eradicated from the world, he stressed.
Ethiopia has played a pivotal role in eradicating the disease, he said, adding that the people of the country are aware of the danger of the polio disease and they are working hard to eradicate it.
The Rotary International Club has been striving to eradicate polio from the world by 2018, it was indicated.
The team leader said polio is found in Nigeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Ethiopia.
