Walias arrive in Kampala for international friendly with Uganda Cranes
The Ethiopian national football team has arrived in Uganda in preparation for Sunday’s build up game against The Cranes at Namboole Stadium on Sunday.
The team of 25 players and 5 officials arrived at Entebbe International Airport aboard Ethiopian Airlines, flight ET 330 at exactly 1 pm.
They were however subjected to thorough health check ups that lasted close to 1 and half hours.
Swedish based Yussuf Saleh, who plies his trade with Sirius football club is the team skipper and he was part of the traveling contingent to Uganda.
Saleh promised a great game on Sunday. “We are aware of the threat Uganda poses, they possess the ball which is one of our strongest weapons too, therefore, it will be a fixture worth watching.”
Meanwhile, 3 foreign based Ugandans, Tonny Mawejje (Norway), the Ethiopian duo of Isaac Isinde and Rober Odongkara were also passengers on the same Ethiopian Airlines flight.
The Uganda – Ethiopia match is organized under the theme, ‘Protect your goal’, a health campaign to raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS scourge.
President Museveni is expected to be the chief guest at the match which will be free to all.
There will be a curtain raiser between cabinet XI and the Parliamentary XI where President Museveni is expected to be skipper the cabinet team.
