Head coach of the Ethiopian national football team, Barreto Mariano Jeronimo has hinted on his team’s determination to pick a positive result from Sunday’s international build up game against the Uganda Cranes at Namboole Stadium.
“Uganda is one of the best performing nations in the region. We respect that status quo but my players are ready to prove a point or two come Sunday.” the soft spoken tactician of Indian decent told Kawowo Sports at the team’s base in Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
The Ethiopians arrived in the country on Friday aboard Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 330. Barreto, the now Portuguese turned national, is grateful about the Ugandan Football Association and government for organizing the buildup match.
Such a match comes at a time when most needed it. I thank the Ugandan Government and FUFA for organizing this fixture which will help my team prepare for the Algerian clash.
The buildup match at Namboole Stadium has been organized by the Government of Uganda under the Ministries of Education & Sports and Health as an awareness drive towards safeguarding against the deadly HIV/AIDS scourge.
Uganda is preparing for Ghana (AFCON Group E qualifier) on Saturday, 15th November 2014 at Namboole and in the same vein, the horn of Africa nation, Ethiopia is preparing for an away clash in Algeris, against Algeria.
