EPL: Ethiopian Coffee defeats St. George 1-0

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopian Coffee defeated arch rival St. George FC 1-0 here today in the Ethiopian Premier League championship.

Aschalew Girma score the lone goal of the match in the 49th minute. St. George had a chance to tie the game when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 83rd minute, but Fitsum Gebremedhin’s effort was quashed by the Nigerian goalie.

This marked the 36th time that the two Addis Ababa based side met.

In other matches, newly promoted Woldiya Kenema lost 2-1 to EEPCO at home, Wolayta Dicha and Dashen Brewery beat Hawassa Kenema and Mugher Cement respectively by an identical score of 1-0. Adama Kenema was held scoreless at home by Mekelakeya (Defense Force) and Arba Minch Kenema squeezed by CBE by a score of 2-1.
