The 78th Martyrs Day commemorated in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (FBC) – The 78th Martyrs Day was commemorated in Addis Ababa today in memory of the victims of the indiscriminate massacre and imprisonment of Ethiopians by Italian occupation forces.
The massacre took place after an attempted assassination of Viceroy Rodolfo Graziani on 19 February 1937.
Various events took place at the Martyrs Monument located at 6 Kilo. Head of Addis Ababa City Mayor’s Office and Deputy Head of Cabinet Wondimagegn Tesema said on the occasion, the current generation should honor its forefathers’ history by leaving its own mark on current development activities in the country.
President of Ethiopian Patriots Association urged the current generation to take care of veteran patriots who are now in their old ages.
