Tourists’ stay increases by threefold
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The number of days tourists stay in Ethiopia has reached 16 days, more than threefold over the last 7 years, an official said.
Improvement of service quality in the hospitability industry and infrastructure development around the country and destination areas helped for the increase, said Tadelech Dalecho, State Minister for Culture and Tourism.
Hotels that meet international standards have been increasing, reaching over 600, with increased involvement of local and foreign companies in the sector.
Improvements in the number and service of the hospitality business and other infrastructure developments have also led to the increasing number of tourists who visited attractions in the country.
The number of tourists who visited the various tourist attractions of the country has been increasing every year by 12 percent over the past years.
Grading the hotels in the capital Addis Ababa has been carrying out with the aim of improving services the hotels are providing to tourists.
The grading will enable hotels fulfill the necessary equipments and services that satisfies tourists, said Zenawi Mesfin, Vice President of Addis Ababa Hotel Owners Association.
Meeting standards and provision of quality services will in return help to increase the number of days tourists stay in the country. –
