Southern Ethiopia attracts over 1 million visitors
Addis Ababa (WIC) – The South Nations, Nationalities and People’s (SNNP) Regional State Culture and Tourism Bureau said over 1 million local and foreign tourists have visited tourist destinations of the region during the concluded fiscal year.
Tourist Attractions Research, conservation and Development Senior Head with the Bureau, Meseret Admassu, in an exclusive interview with Walta Information said that 1,025,416 local and foreign tourists from Europe, America, Asia, Africa and other corners of the world have visited cultural, natural and historical tourist attractions of SNNP.
He added that out of the total tourists 239,800 are foreigners and the remaining 785,606 are local tourists.
The tourist flow has increased by over 34,000 tourists as compared to the previous fiscal year.
It was noted that the region has bagged 298,080,295 EtB and recorded an increment of 37.4 million EtB as compared to the previous year’s income.
Meseret added that this increment both in tourist flow and income is the result of integrated works of the region to make conducive environment at the cultural, historical and natural tourist attractions, Walta learnt.
