Foreign based Ethiopian Footballers are making headlines as three players scored important goals for their respective sides.

Gatoch Panom

The first Ethiopian to grace the Europe League Gatoch Panom made his first appearance for Russian top tier team Anzhi- Makhachkala. Though his side Anzhi was kicked-out of Russian knock-out cup after 2-0 defeats to second division side FK Luch-Energiya, former Ethiopia Bunna and national team skipper Gatoch Phanom appeared in his debut match for his club. A ninety minute debut match meant Gatoch finally got a chance to prove himself to his employers.

Shimeles Bekele

Ethiopian international play maker Shimeles Bekele tapped in an opener in his team’s Petrojet 2-0 away win over Enppi. Rumored to a huge transfer fee to China, the diminutive playmaker is still one of the most impressive foreign players in the Egypt league. Petrojet is currently 8th with four points two behind top spot Almasry with six points from two matches.

Oumed Oukri

Oumed Oukri who also scored a goal in his debut match to Smouha, had had a good time in the field in his team’s 1-1 home draw against visitors Al-Nasry. An emerging soccer force in Egypt 18 team league Samouha is second with five points from three matches. The Shimeles versus Oumed head on clash takes place on 11th October when Smouha entertains Petrojet.

Walid Atta

Also in the news Ethiopian international defender Walid Ata scored a much needed last minute equalizer for his new side Al-Khaleej. The Saudi first division side Al-Khaleej is 7th in the league table with four points from two matches.
