Ethiopians Celebrate Christmas
Addis Ababa (ENA) Ethiopian Christians celebrated Christmas “Gena” today.
Since Ethiopia follows its own calendar, Christians in Ethiopia celebrate Christmas on January 7 instead of December 25.
Ethiopian Christmas known as Gena is one of the popular holidays and a peak festive season and fiesta aligned with best dishes.
The day is celebrated with amazing cultural dishes, clothes, traditional games and different religious activities.
The holiday marked after more than a 40-day fasting season mainly by Orthodox Christians.
The celebration of Gena that accompanied by a mass ceremony at churches in the eve, is uniquely marked in the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela.
In Lalibela the day is celebrated in a very peculiar and attractive ways as the day is the birthday of King Lalibela, who constructed the historic and mesmerizing churches.
Tourists from around the world and Orthodox Christians traveled to Lalibela to attend the unique ceremony.
