Derartu Tulu Elected Vice President Of East African Athletics Region

Addis Ababa – January 12, 2019 –Derartu Tulu, President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF), has been elected as Vice President of the East African Athletics Region (EAAR).

The EAAR Congress held its meeting in Addis Ababa today. Representatives of athletics federations from Ethiopia, Kenya, Eritrea, Uganda, Sudan, Rwanda, South Sudan and Tanzania attended today’s meeting.

The Congress elected Athletics Kenya President Jackson Tuwei as President, Uganda’s Athletics Federation President Dominic Otuchet as Senior Vice President and Sudan’s Engineer Saddig A. Ibrahim as General Secretary of EAAR, respectively.

Derartu also became a member of the board of directors of the African Athletics Confederation (AAC).
