2022 FIFA World Cup Africa Qualifier : Ethiopia Advances to the Next Round

The Ethiopian national football team “Walias” advanced to the next round of the 2022 Fifa World Cup Africa Qualifier on away goal rule after they drew 1-1 with Lesotho in the return leg match played at the Setsoto Stadium today. 

The two teams played a scoreless match in the first leg match a week ago in Bahir Dar. 

It was the Walias who scored first five minutes into the second half  thanks to an own goal by Lesotho defender Nkau Lerotholi but the home side responded six minutes later from a kick taken by Seturumane Tsepo. 

Ethiopia: Jemal Tassew, Desta Demu, Aschalew Tamene, Yared Bayu, Ahmed Reshid, Gatoch Panom, Shimeles Bekele (capt) (79′ Anteneh Tesfaye), Haider Sherefa, Binyam Belay, Amanuel Gebre-Michael (88′ Oumed Oukri) and Mesfin Tafesse (73′ Mujib Kasim).
