The Reporter: Can you explain the Grand African run? When did the race start?

Gashaw Abeza (PhD): the Grand African Run is a US-based non-profit organization that is inspired by the interest and value that is placed upon the success of running sports in Africa. It is an annual 5km mass-participation road-running event staged in Washington DC. This year’s event will be the third one, which will take place on October 16, 2021, at Hains Point East Potomac Park, Washington DC.

We organize the event with the objectives of bringing our community together, keeping the first-generation children close to their culture through a variety of cultural programs at the event, and raising funds for the Ethiopian Cardiac Center.
