MTB Kerala: First International Mountain Cycling Competition
NEW DELHI: Government of Kerala and Kerala Tourism proudly presents, International Mountain cycling events – MTB Kerala 2012, a first of its kind, to explore Kerala. This first International Mountain Cycling Competition, starts from Thenmala in Kollam district on 2nd November 2012 and ends in the beautiful beach destination Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram district on 4th November 2012.
The cross country tracks pass through hilly stretches of lush tropical Thenmala forests and the four cross track laid in the sunny landscapes of Kovalam will be a thrilling experience for the participants.
More than forty renowned international riders are expected to “pedal” open the event. The meet will be flagged off at Thenmala in Kollam.
The event aims to make Kerala as the future hub of annual International Mountain cycling events.
The MTB Kerala race will be conducted in three categories for the cyclists:
- International Cross Country
- National Cross Country
- International Four Cross
The categories of cross country events will takes place in the circuit tracks of Thenmala on 2nd and 3rd November and the International Four Cross event will be held in the tracks of Kovalam on 4th November.

There is no entry fee as it’s the first International Mountain Cycling Competition being held in Kerala. The race is only open to male participants. The national cyclist’s wishes to participate in this event should submit a concern letter from CFI (Cycling Federation of India).
Reaching Kerala for MTBÂÂ
Kerala is accessible quite easily, as the state is well connected by all major systems of transport. A beautiful holiday destination, Kerala is well connected by Airways, Railways and Road transports.
MTB Kerala offers free transportation facilities for the participants. Free pick up has been arranged from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (which is around 72 km away from Thenmala) to the event place for both national and international participants. And also from Kollam Railway Station and Trivandrum Central to Thenmala, as Kollam and Thiruvananthapuam railway stations are the nearest railway stations to Thenmala.
