Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Hagos Gebrehiwot* in the men and Aberu Kebede in the women’s category won the 2012 Great Ethiopian Run here today, according to a report posted on RFI.

The Great Ethiopian Run, which is now in its 12^th year, is the largest running events in Africa. 36,000 runners took part in today’s event.

Gebrehiwot and Aberu are not strangers to the athletic world. Hagos, who won a stage in the Diamond League when he was just 18, is the current world record holder in the 5,000m junior race, while Aberu won the Berlin Marathon just 2 months ago.
