Friendly game changed

Togo had previously agreed to play Ethiopia on January 3 but due to the circumstances surrounding their national team, they decided to give up the match. There have been some controversies surrounding the last friendly match Togo played with Morocco, with the players led by Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor demanded a share of the money Morocco gave to the Togo Football Federation. The Federation had claimed that the money was spent on flights and accommodation for the players.

There is a chance the friendly against Guinea may not transpire as there are disagreements about the date. The EFF previously scheduled the match for Thursday, January 3 but Guinea wants the friendly to occur on Friday. Ethiopia, however, will play another game against Tunisia on Monday, January 8 and will fly to Qatar next Saturday. The federation want to give the players time to recuperate and is negotiating with the Tunisian and Guinean federations to either move the Tunisia game to Tuesday or convince Guinea to play on Thursday.

The Guinea team is no stranger to Addis Ababa as the two teams were in the same group at the AFCON 2012 qualifiers. It is recalled that the last time the teams played in Addis Ababa, Guinea defeated Ethiopia 4 goals to 1.
