Amerga bows gracefully out of banking

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Veteran banker and president of Nib International Bank (NIB) Amerga Kassa officially resigned from his post, passing the baton to his deputy, Kibru Fonja.

“I have family matters I need to attend to and I want to rest as well. That is why I have decided to retire. I have dedicated my time and energy to the job and it is time for me to call it a day,” Amerga told reporters at a meeting held at the the head office on Thursday.

The Board of directors of NIB accepted the resignation letter and appointed Kibru to be the acting president of the bank.

“The board of directors of Nib International Bank S.C. has appointed Kibru Fonja, the bank’s vice president for administration & finance, acting president effective January 01, 2013, as Amerga Kassa, current president of the Bank, will be retiring as of December 31, 2012 after playing a key role in the formation of the bank and serving in various executive capacities for the last 13 years,” a letter signed by Tafesse Boglae, chairman of the board, read.
