Haile Gebrselassie to run 10k in Angola
Addis Ababa – Ethiopia’s world marathon record holder and running legend Haile Gebrselassie will return to competitive action when he takes part in the 55th Luanda’s Sylvester Corrida, a 10km road race in the Angolan capital Luanda.
The 37-year old, who had announced his retirement in November after dropping out of the 2010 ING New York Marathon, made a dramatic return to competition ten days later, but had yet to make a competitive appearance for the last month.
It will be his first race over the 10km since May earlier this year where he won the Great Manchester Run in England. Other leading runners are Kenyans Josphat Kiprono Menjo on the men’s side and Grace Momanyi in the women’s race.
