Over 3.7 mln. Birr secured from tourism in Gondar
Gondar, Ethiopia (ENA) -  Over 3.7 million Birr was secured from more than 13,000 tourists, who visited the Semien Mountains National Park in Amhara State during the last nine months, the Park Office said.
Office Head, Maru Biyadglegn said on Thursday that the amount exceeded by 60,000 Birr that of same period last year.
Maru said some 12,000 of the tourists are foreigners from Europe, Asia, the USA and Africa.
Some of the tourists on their parts said that upgrading of the 100 km Gondar-Debark gravel road to asphalt level contributed towards tourism development.
The Park, which is inscribed by UNESCO as World Heritage in 1978, is home for different The Park is home to a number of wild animals and birds including the walia ibex, found nowhere else in the world.
Nine of Ethiopia’s heritages including the Park are inscribed by UNESCO as World Heritages.
