Ethiopia defeats Rwanda 1-0 in Orange African Nations Championships
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ethiopian national football team “The Walias” defeated Rwanda 1-0 here today in the first leg match of the 2014 Orange African Nations Championships first round competition.
The two teams will play the return leg match in Kigali during the week of July 26-28, 2013.
Asrat Megersa scored the lone goal of the match (57′).
Meanwhile, the defending champions  Tunisia were eliminated by rivals Morocco in the first qualifying round. They drew 0-0 with Morocco in Tangier in the second leg, but fell 1-0 on aggregate after losing at home last Saturday .
The 16-nation tournament is scheduled for January 11-February 1 in South Africa and Morocco will appear at the finals for the first time.
South Africa qualify automatically as hosts and Ghana and Libya have secured places after opponents Benin and Algeria withdrew.
