Minyahil Teshome moves from zero to hero
Minyahil Teshome has described his winning goal for Ethiopia in their 2-1 win over Central African Republic (CAR) as the best moment of his career.
Teshome scored the winner and afterwards said that he was happy the goal had absolved him all the blame after Ethiopia were docked three points for fielding him against Botswana in June.
He described the moment his team was deducted points as confusing ,hurting and saddening but added that Saturday felt like redemption.
“I feel so overwhelmed today remembering how the country came to a standstill when we were docked points especially for fielding me. Today I have been vindicated and I feel like I have been born again as the goal was totally unexpected,” Teshome told supersport.com after the win.
“Some things are hard to explain but it’s the pride of any player to score a crucial goal that helpd his country make history and I feel privileged for being that player. Our dream is on course and we hope to continue with the great progress in the playoffs,” he added.
